THE SCENARIO

In April 2014 the factory unit adjoining ours caught fire and destroyed the entire building which included our unit. We had some $1,500,000 of stock as well as our entire business operations located at our premises. With the fire, we lost access to our business and stock and we were suddenly dead in the water

THE RESPONSE

Gary from MDS came in to help and had the insurance company start a limited clean up to allow us to gain access to our stock and reposition it. The building was totally destroyed so we needed to find new premises. In doing so we needed to construct a holding yard with fence which wasn’t damaged in the fire, but our policy allowed us to complete the task as a part of our claim.

THE OUTCOME

Our Business Interruption policy paid our profits for the period we weren’t able to trade which kept us alive as a business. Twelve months later we had relocated into new premises and were able to look back at our year of turmoil and relax knowing our profits were protected as well as our assets.

MDS was with us all the way providing advice and help assisting us to negotiate with the assessors and insurers which ended in a very successful outcome.
